Due to the ongoing pandemic, it is important to find outdoor activities that keep us busy and healthy! There are many Knoxville hiking locations that provide beautiful views of East Tennessee. Listed below are some of the best and most well known Knoxville hiking locations!
- House Mountain- 5.8 miles
This scenic overlook over beautiful mountains is the highest point in Knox County. While up on the overlook, you will be able to see 30 miles out! Though this is a tougher and longer hike than the two listed below, the view is definitely worth it! Located about 17 miles and 22 minutes drive from campus, this hike is the perfect option for a last minute adventure.
2. Cades Cove- 11 mile drive
An ever popular destination, Cades Cove, is home to one of the most beautiful sceneries in East Tennessee. Being COVID-19 friendly while staying in your car, this experience is perfect for those heavily social distancing or just wanting to see a beautiful view without the work that goes into it. An hour and a half drive from campus (about 45 miles), be sure to check out this beautiful destination!
3. Clingman’s Dome- 1 mile
At 6,643 feet, Clingman’s Dome is the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains. Once you climb to the top, you get a full view of the mountains and the area surrounding it. Located only about 30 miles from the University of Tennessee, this hike is a great option for a beautiful sunrise.
