Things To Do In Market Square

Things to do in Market Square

You and your friends finally get some free time and are trying to find something fun to do?  Not sure where to go or what to do? We’ve got you covered! Head over to Knoxville’s Market Square where you can find endless delicious food, great people, music, shopping, and special events!

Market Square During the Holidays

The Holidays are one of the best times to head over to Market Square. If you want a little tour of just about every amazing spot in Market Square, you can follow the Peppermint Trail along the streets of Downtown where you can stop at local shops and restaurants for gifts and treats. You can even sign up on your mobile phone for the Peppermint Trail Pass! Check in at the locations you stop at and enter to win some Prizes! Drop off some letters to Santa in his mailbox, trust me you’ll know which one goes right to him! It can get a little chilly on the Peppermint Trail so remember to dress warm with our winter accessories.

Spend any day of the week skating on the open-air ice rink in the center of Market Square or spend the afternoon walking the Holiday Markets where locally made gifts of ornaments, pottery, jewelry, and more are available.

Discover Art in Market Square

Take a beautiful stroll through Krutch Park where you will find rotating annual art installations scattered throughout the grounds. Or head down Strong Alley. The most photographed spot in all of Downtown Knoxville is where you’ll see never-ending murals, artwork, and expression. If you’re a Dolly Parton fan, you’ll definitely wanna check it out. History Buff? Check out the Tennessee Woman Suffrage Memorial. The bronze sculpture displays three women who were leading campaigners for the state to ratify the 19th Amendment to give women the right to vote. The buildings within Market Square are also a great source of art and history with many of the buildings dating back to the 1800s. Discover more art at the local farmers’ market that occurs in Market Square each week, just do not forget to grab your Wear Knox tote to carry everything you find.

An Entertaining Place to Visit

In the mood for a concert? The Square Room concert and event hall hosts international, national, and regional touring acts. No matter what genre of music, you can find it here! You may even just be standing in Market Square where you will find a performance occurring on Bill Lyons Pavilion, the public stage located on the north end of the square. Want a little bit of everything. Scruffy City Hall has you covered. This 3 level building is packed full of excitement. Check out the Main Hall floor to find some great concerts, shows, and events.

If you want a quiet place to overlook Market Square, do a little people watching and relax, having a few drinks head up to the Loggia Balcony Bar. Finally, make your way all the way up to the Rooftop patio, “Scruffy Cinepub Under the Stars,” to enjoy some great food and company while watching a movie projected onto the side of the building. Check out Scruffy’s schedule here: Scruffy City Hall – Welcome To Scruffy City
